By the time 2024 opened, the hobby had spent two full years adjusting to the 2022 correction. The K-shape was no longer a narrative, it was the default frame. - Last Topps-branded MLB year. Fanatics had announced an MLB exclusive from 2025 onward, so 2024 Topps Chrome and 2024 Bowman Chrome product were the final releases under the original Topps imprint. Collectors did not rush the product the way some had expected, but 2024 has become the bookmark year for Topps MLB as a standalone.
- Panini NBA handoff looming. Panini held the NBA license through the 2024 to 2025 season, with Fanatics scheduled to take over NBA product from 2025 to 2026 onward. PSA held the dominant share of modern submissions through 2024. BGS remained a specialist option for Black Label 10s on modern and for vintage mid-grade work. SGC continued its steady rise with faster turnaround and lower fees, taking share from PSA on vintage and on value-tier modern. How to read 2024 card prices in 2026
2024 is recent product, which means the comps are dense, but it also means the comps have only had about eighteen months to settle. Price reading rules that apply specifically to 2024 issues:
